This time of year these pretty gold fields stand out along just about every dirt road and highway. The corn right now is a deep, delicious green and the bright golden wheat fields standing next to them make a bright, beautiful contrast.

But it won't last for long! Because it's harvest time.

And because of a generous invitation from friends, the kids and I were able to ride along for some harvest action. This is the grain cart/tractor combo that Ruby and I rode in . . .

. . . and August rode in the big ol' combine along with his dear friend Elliana and Driver Brent. (Thank you, Driver Brent.)

These are Ruby's feet. (Sometimes you just sit and wait in the grain cart. We make our own entertainment wherever we go.)

And here we have one happy combine rider.

And one last picture of special friends - Wyatt was not feeling photogenic, and that's okay. Wyatt, I never feel photogenic and if someone had wanted to take my picture yesterday, I would not have bowed out as gracefully as you did. I would have run and hid under the pickup and that's no lie. :)
And thanks also to Driver Austin, our gracious host in the grain cart. Best wishes with your last year at school and I told Brad he so needs to hire you as an apprentice.
There. My work here is done.
