Snow, snow everywhere . . . the kids and I just went for a pretty magical walk in the falling snow. We've been remiss these past few weeks - below freezing temperatures, high winds, the draw of making nests for cozy comfort - all have kept us indoors. The challenge of this post has revived our afternoon outdoors amibition . . . and goodness, it was a fun time! Our original plan of walking up to the horses and back turned into almost two hours of snow adventure.
Right outside my window, a red-headed woodpecker flits from branch to branch. Earlier, we could see a bluejay and an unidentified yellow and brown bird making what Ruby said is a crying sound. The birds know that spring is so very near. Even though we are covered in blankets of snow, it no longer feels like the dead of winter. Spring is coming!
We know feel it even inside our home - for weeks we've been cleaning and purging, rearranging and letting go of the old to make room for the new. Closets are in tip-top shape and the pantry has been lined out. August has a new set of shelves for his tractors . . . hopefully sometime this week the stairwell will see a new coat of paint. It's time to feel lighter, more colorful and a little bit more freedom on a variety of levels.
For me, it started with the house. Now, as we enter spring and soon the season of Lent, I thought I'd give myself a little spring makeover. For 30 days I'll be joining in on a online, whole food workshop. (So if you're visiting, do disregard my previous post about lots of butter and sugar - ha!)
No matter what your spring plans, I hope that you have begun to feel the cheery change of the seasons!
